Electric Cars FAQs

Plug-in hybrids that emit 75g/km or less of CO2 and can travel at least 20 miles on electric power alone can also currently apply for exemption, although TFL have announced plans to change this from October 2021.

As of April 1st 2020, all zero-emission vehicles registered from 1 April 2017 until 31 March 2025 are exempt from VED.  Plug-in hybrids qualify for a reduced flat annual rate of VED (£145 compared to £155 for petrol or diesel cars), and benefit from a significantly-reduced first year rate as a result of their lower CO2 figures. For example, any hybrid emitting 50g/km or less of CO2 has a first year rate of zero, and for hybrids emitting 51-75g/km it is just £15. (Source https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables)

Whilst a three-pin socket can charge your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle at home, a home wall box is recommended due to the significantly shorter charge time. In fact, it can charge your plug-in vehicle three times faster than a three-pin plug. With a wall box you can charge your car all night without leaving your home unsecured.

SEAT UK recommends Ohme as the main supplier for providing and installing charging points. They are one of the UK’s leading providers of electric vehicle charging.

Ohme will assist you through the whole process from a pre-installation consultation, fitting your wall box and then a full demonstration on how to use and make the most of all of the smart technology included.
