EA189 Service Action

Taking care of our customers is our number one priority

That’s why over the past few years we have been working non-stop to implement the technical measures for SEAT vehicles with an EA189 diesel engine affected by the NOx emissions issue. We are pleased to inform you that we are now implementing the technical measures for affected vehicles.

We would like to invite you to make an appointment with an Authorised SEAT Retailer for the implementation of the software update. The software update will be carried out free of charge.

We would also like to clarify that all new SEAT cars equipped with EU6 engines are not affected by this issue. None of the cars that SEAT currently manufactures has the EA189 engine. In any case, please rest assured that all SEAT cars conform to the highest possible technical and safety standards.

Our position

You may have read about the group action that has been brought in the English and Welsh, and the Scottish Courts against the Volkswagen Group and others, including SEAT, ŠKODA and Audi in relation to the vehicles affected by the NOx issue, which came to light over five years ago.


You may also be aware that SEAT is convinced that those claimants suing us have not suffered any loss. We think it is important that we explain to you the reasons for this and why we have responded to the litigation in the way we have.
