Frequently Asked Questions

If you're driving a fully electric car (BEV), you won't have to pay the London congestion charge. Don't forget that you are required to complete a discount application form on the Transport for London website in order to be exempt from the charges, and this needs to be renewed every year at a cost of £10.

Plug-in hybrids that emit 75g/km or less of CO2 and can travel at least 20 miles on electric power alone can also currently apply for exemption, although TFL have announced plans to change this from October 2021.

As of April 1st 2020, all zero-emission vehicles registered from 1 April 2017 until 31 March 2025 are exempt from VED. Plug-in hybrids qualify for a reduced flat annual rate of VED (£140, compared to £150 for petrol or diesel cars), and benefit from a significantly-reduced first year rate as a result of their lower CO2 figures. For example, any hybrid emitting 50g/km or less of CO2 has a first year rate of zero, and for hybrids emitting 51-75g/km it is just £15. (Source

Whilst a three-pin socket can charge your electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle at home, a home wall box is recommended due to the significantly shorter charge time. In fact, it can charge your plug-in vehicle three times faster than a three-pin plug. With a wall box you can charge your car all night without leaving your home unsecured.

The average home electricity rate is about 14.4p per kWh, but you should look at your specific energy tariff. Then, as a rough guide, you just need to multiply this by the size of the vehicle’s battery. For example, Mii electric has a 36.8kWh battery, so at 14.4p per kWh it could cost around £5.30 to “fill up”. For more information, click here.

(NB : This calculation assumes battery charge capacity is at 100%. Actual charge capacity may reduce over time depending on the age and condition of the battery (which may affect actual costs.)

SEAT UK recommends Pod Point as the main supplier for installing customer charging points. It’s one of the UK's leading providers of electric vehicle charging.

Pod Point will assist customers through the whole process. They start with a pre-installation consultation, manage the home-grant scheme on the customer's behalf and finish with a full demonstration to make sure customers understand how to charge their vehicle using their new Pod Point wall box.

No. Once you have plugged in your electric car and locked it, the charging cable is securely locked in place too.

In the examples through, you might be wondering why we have used 80% as the charge level. Charging above 80% is fine, however you will most likely only charge to 100% if you leave your vehicle plugged in overnight. This is because once your vehicle charges to 80% the rate will slow down to reduce battery heating. By using 80% we can give you a more realistic representation of how long it will take for you to charge, particularly at public charging stations.

Mii electric has a 36.8 kWh battery. This means it takes four hours on a standard home wall box or a public charge point to get to 80 per cent of battery (giving you over 120 miles of range).

It has 61 KW of power, which is equivalent to 83PS making the Mii electric similarly powered to a standard 1.0 to 1.2 litre (non-turbo) petrol engine.

The combined range is 160 miles*. Most drivers in the UK drive an average of 25 miles a day, which means that you would only have to charge your Mii electric every six days. If you confine that to the city, with a range of 222 miles*, that would increase to nearly 9 days!

Mii electric boasts 251 litres of boot space, which is bigger than most city cars.

*WLTP range figures. This may vary depending on driving style, number of passengers, in car heating settings and external weather conditions.
