When you start driving around demanding curves or if driving conditions become challenging, the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) (Stylance, FR and Cupra) kicks in. If an unexpected object crosses your path, the Emergency Brake Assistant (EBA - only with ESP) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) work together by actively intervening to create the shortest possible brake path that still maintains steering agility. The journey continues. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) monitors information from the steering wheel, tyres, brakes and accelerator, then makes tiny adjustments to keep you on the perfect arc. Emergency Brake Assistant (EBA) (standard with ESP) interprets the speed and pressure that the brake pedal is pushed to detect a critical braking situation. Brake assist works until the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) kicks in to prevent the wheels from locking.
