The TDI engine shows just how exciting it can be to save energy, with the direct diesel injection system offering one of the highest engine efficiency of any diesel engine at the moment. It transforms more of the energy contained in the fuel into motion, resulting in an astonishing economy rate that averages 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres.

Modifications have also taken place on the gear box, especially in the higher 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th gears, allowing lower consumption without any loss of power or responsiveness in the 1.4/80 hp engine.
