The SEAT Altea has achieved outstanding results, having successfully undergone crash tests carried out by the prestigious Euro NCAP organisation. For the tests, Euro NCAP uses models equipped with the minimum statutory safety features. In the case of the Altea, they chose the 1.6 entry level Reference which features as standard - airbag for the driver and passenger, side airbag and curtain airbag, front seatbelts with pyrotechnical pre-tensioners, rear seatbelts with load limiters, and seatbelt use detector on the driver?s side of the car. The categories in which Euro NCAP awards points are passenger protection (Front and Side Impact Rating), child protection and pedestrian test rating. In these three groups, the Altea eclipsed the competition with the following results: Passenger protection ***** (5 stars out of a possible 5) Child Protection Rating **** (4 stars out of a possible 5) Pedestrian Test Rating *** (3 stars out of a possible four) Passenger protection The Altea was evaluated in three different tests: frontal collision, side collision with a deformable barrier and side collision against a rigid pole. The result: a five-star rating - the highest rating possible.
